Monday morning whatnots.
It's Monday.
Hoorah.
Here are some odds and ends:
- Joe Henry is producing an Aimee Mann concept album. Why am I not laughing at this news? Oh yeah, 'cause I love both of them. Plus I've heard her play one of the songs from the album (it's about a guy trying to get off crack in time for Christmas) and it's excellent.
- Wilco is contributing a song to the SpongeBob movie featuring eight-year-old Spencer Tweedey on drums.
- NYTimes film crix Tony "Not the director of Crimson Tide" Scott and Manohla Dargis chat about the fall movie season. Best exchange:
SCOTT: You know, if the rumors are true, it's possible that having this conversation this time next year, we may not have Miramax to kick around anymore. Or at least not in the form that we've grown accustomed to it.
DARGIS: What will movie critics do if we don't have Harvey Weinstein to blame for everything? Who will take the blame for the decline of American cinema? What will happen to Lasse Hallstrom?
SCOTT: Maybe he'll go back to Sweden and make interesting movies again.
- Rob over at The Tenth Beatle has the scoop on the new Elvis Costello disc. Sounds promising.
- BREAKING NEWS: Batman has moved to London.
- Proof that all who come in contact with Vincent Gallo's ween will join Planet Crazy:
(via Fug.)
- Televangelist Paul Crouch might like dude parts. Um, did the fact that he married a drag queen tip you off?
